PLAYS THAT WON THE HEARTS!
Ahome-based theatre with a capacity of 60 people witnessed a three-day long competition-based Studio Theatre festival, recently.
Three plays were staged back-to-back for the festival, which captured the heart of the audience and jury members. The festival was organised by a group, Bewajah, at their Café.
On first day, ‘Samwadiya’ play was staged by Delhi group. It talks about the importance of ‘samwadiya’ (messenger) against the technological leap of the society. The play was written by Fanishwar Nath Renu, while the direction was given by Shyam Kumar Sahani.
Hindi play ‘Dayashankar Ki Diary’ was staged by Lucknow group on second day.
Directed by Raja Awasthi and written by Nadira Zaheer Babbar, the play talks about the struggle faced by a person between compromising with reality and following his dreams and trying to set the aim of his life.
English play ‘30 days in September’, written by Mahesh Dattani and directed by Rohit Chaudhary, was staged on the last day of the festival.
The main aim of this play was to show that how child abuse is prevailing in society and also the relationship of mother and daughter has been shown.
“Child abuse is a big problem in our society. Children don’t share their problems with the parents easily. What if the family members are the ones who abuse them? So we want to throw some light on this topic and make our audience aware about the menace,” says Rohit Chaudhary, director of the play. The audience and jury members will decide the winner.
