Film’s prep on Jassie Gill’s mind amid concerts
After making his acting debut in Bollywood with Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, Jassie Gill will feature next in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga. The Punjabi singer-actor, who plays a pivotal role in the film, says that he will soon start prepping for the role.
A sports drama, Panga narrates the life of a Nationallevel Kabbadi player, played by actor Kangana Ranaut, and Jassie is paired with her.
“Jassie recently came back from London after wrapping up his upcoming Punjabi film. After his Chandigarh concert (to be held in September end), he will start prepping for his character, which is something he is looking forward to. He will soon travel to Mumbai to discuss his character and the film with Ashwiny and Kangana,” says a source close to the singer-actor. He will also perform at a music concert in Mumbai, in October.
Panga was announced even before the release of Jassie’s debut film, and he of course was happy about it. However, while talking about it, Jassie says that while he is happy with the way his career is shaping up in Bollywood, he is not ready to divulge any details about the film or his character.
The singer-actor says, “It feels great when you get good opportunities and people have faith in your capabilities. The script [of Panga] is very interesting, I can totally identify with the concept. I am looking forward to working in the film. Right now, I can’t reveal anything else.”
Jassie, who is one of the top names in Punjabi cinema and music industry, says that he would love to do more work in Bollywood, but does not want to hurry into things. However, he is in talks for other projects in the industry, but nothing has been finalised yet.
