Bobby Deol, who recently finished shooting for the upcoming comedy Housefull 4 and was seen earlier this year in Race 3, feels that the industry has undergone a big change in the past couple of decades. The actor, who made his debut with Barsaat (1995), says that unlike the ’90s, there’s a lot more pressure to promote a film heavily these days.

“It has changed so much. Films didn’t require a lot of promotion 20 years back, but the internet has created a demand for it all over the world. Different mediums for interacting [with fans], including social media, have come up. People have now started getting used to being told about things,” Bobby points out.

He agrees that one needs to change with the times. “Meeting people, getting their feedback, interacting with journalists, and understanding what the world is thinking about you, from the questions they ask you —you’ve to do all those things, and now I enjoy it,” the actor says.

Doesn’t it all feel taxing? “It is, but I don’t look at it that way. I used to think, ‘Why do I have to give so many interviews?’ But it’s important. You need to respect and give time to it,” Bobby signs off.
