Actor Saif Ali Khan is enjoying the current phase in his career and feels that he is getting “better” at his job with time. Fresh from the success and critical acclaim of his web series, Sacred Games, the actor said he is “learning new things” today.

“I feel, as an actor, I am better than ever and more interested than I have ever been. I am getting better every day. I am enjoying the growth,” says Saif, who will reprise his role of the good cop in the second season of the series. The actor — who made his Bollywood debut with Parampara (1992) — does not view his work from a business angle anymore “where I want to try and make money, because by the grace of God, I feel secure with that sort of thing”.

Saif used to be the face of romantic comedy films (he starred in Hum Tum (2004), Salaam Namaste (2005), and Cocktail (2012) among others), but of late, he has been taking on the challenge of different films and genres, with projects such as Rangoon (2017), Kaalakandi and Chef (2017). “I feel secure. I want to choose exciting roles. I want to challenge myself. It’s such a great time in the movies. The kind of roles that one is offered are so different from what they used to be. We’re looking at the future, pushing boundaries,” says Saif.

“I want to challenge myself by doing different things. I think it’s a great time for movies because the kind of films that are being offered are so different from how it used to be... I think having a creative job is God’s gift. Life is good when you have something on your plate that keeps you occupied and that’s all I am looking for.”

He said he is learning more, adding: “I am getting better every day and there is a growth which I am enjoying. I hope I get the opportunity to continue with that.”
