TANISHK NEVER WANTED TO COME FIRST IN CLASS

With popular tracks such as Allah Hu Allah and The Humma Song, among many others, to his credit, composer Tanishk Bagchi is a successful name in the highly competitive film and music industry. He, however, doesn’t like being competitive and shares that he has been like that since he was a kid.

“I never wanted to come first in class; I was happy just by the ‘pass’ remark. My mother would be like, ‘Why don’t you study hard to come first?’ and I would say, ‘If I pass, I still get promoted to the next class’,” he recalls with a laugh.

“That’s how I am. I do what I like and I don’t really bother how well others are doing... I wouldn’t do something because of some sense of competition, or that I want to prove something to someone.”

The Kolkota-born artist, who has composed music for the upcoming film LoveYatri, credits his mother for instilling the qualities of hard work and honesty in him. “It’s all because of my parents, especially my mother. She always told me to do my work with complete honesty and dedication. She told me that I shouldn’t reject anything, and I should do whatever comes my way, however big or small the project is; that ‘it’s a sin to reject work’ and of that I am able to survive. So whatever work I do, I do it with utmost sincerity, and honesty. But I don’t want to prove myself to anyone,” Bagchi concludes.
