Many of them have been suffering from sugar, heart and other diseases, but they enjoying life at fullest without any tension as they know how important is walking for them to live a long life!

There is nothing big than this if your routine walking become a fun— a competitio­n where you get a chance to win different gifts, including a teaset and bunch of snacks and other rich but packed eatables for munching.

The annual race of morning walkers at the Lohia Park in Chowk under the leadership of former Ranji Trophy cricketer Neeru Kapoor in memory of Pushpa Tandon on Tuesday witnessed a huge participat­ion of 195 veterans aged between 40 to 80 in both the categories.

Family members of the participan­ts were there to cheer the oldies, who didn’t not mind in using all tricks to win the race, including some fast running.

In the women’s section, the winners included Sandleen Fatima, Seema Patil, Smriti Jain, Almas Alam, Sonia Devgun, Sangeeta Rastogi, Usha Agarwal, Anju Arora, Rekha Mehrotra, Pramila Tandon, Sushma Choudhry and Mamta Agarwal excelled in different age categories.

Their male counter parts weren’t far behind and put their best foot forward to win the race. “It’s not winning, but a motivation to keep you live fit and fine,” said Virad Kapoor, who emerged victorious in one of the categories.

Others winners in different age categories in the men’s section included Ajai Kapoor, Nilesh Rastogi, Shah Alam, Sharad Rastogi, Ravindra Gupta. Lal Ji Kapoor, Sharif Ahmed, SK Bhalla, Prakash Mishra, Narayan Das and Ramesh Verma.

The next mission of the Morning Walkers Club is to make the Chowk clean. “Yes, we are planning a programme titled Green Chowk and Clean Chowk by the end of this year,” said Kapoor, chief of the club.
