Kaushik begins ‘Kaagaz’ shoot in Sitapur
It is lights, camera and action at Chaudhuri Niwas in Kanduni village, Biswa, in district Sitapur. Here, actordirector Satish Kaushik took the mahurat shot of his film ‘Kaagaz’, which is based on UPite Lal Bihari ‘Mritak’, a native of Amilo village, in Azamgarh.
National award winning actor Pankaj Tripathi plays the role of Lal Bihari with Gujarati actor Monal Gajjar playing his better half in the film. It also stars Mita Vashisht besides several local actors. Kaushik has once again donned the director’s hat and is also producing the film under his banner Satish Kaushik Entertainment, helmed by his nephew Nishant Kaushik.
The official launch of the film took place in the presence of Sitapur district magistrate Sheetal Verma. Kaushik, who earlier wanted the title to be ‘Main Zinda Hoon’, has now christened it ‘Kaagaz’. Tripathi donned played Bihari donning a shirt teamed with payjama.
“Kaagaz (paper) plays very important role in our life. We write exams on paper, marriages are certified, divorces are given and judgments pronounced on paper. In the life of Lal Bihari, another paper played an important role, one which declared him dead. So, we have named it ‘Kaagaz’.
The film is Lal Bihari’s humble story; a farmer, who was declared dead on paper because his relatives sought help from a corrupt official to snatch his land. The story showcases a weak Lal Bihari turning into a strong and confident man, who goes on to fight the corrupt system and proves to the world that he is alive.
“This film is really close to my heart and I am really grateful to my colleagues (Imtiaz Husain, Ankur Suman and Shashank) for their amazing contribution in terms of a realistic depiction of the storyline. We decided to launch the film in Sitapur to stay true to the essence of the script and to reach out to the audience in the smaller parts of the state and country,” said Kaushik, speaking to HT.
