Pankaj Tripathi turns to ’90s heroes for dance moves
Actor Pankaj Tripathi tickled everyone’s funny bone with his performances in film such as Bareilly Ki Barfi, Fukrey Returns and the recent horror comedy Stree. Now we hear he is gearing up to put on his dancing shoes and he has taken inspiration from none other than actor Govinda.
The actor will soon be seen playing a ’90s superstar of the southern film industry, in the biopic of actor Shakeela. He will also have a solo dance number in the film.
“I liked actors from the ’90s such as Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Govinda. I have watched a majority of Govinda’s films when I was in school because of his style and dance. Though I haven’t followed any of them directly for my character but I took some inspiration from each of them, clubbed with my own imagination and efforts,” shares Pankaj.
The actor, who has been part of critically acclaimed films such Newton (2017) and Nil Battey Sannata (2015), will play the character will also don the classic ’90s outfits.
“Back then, actors often wore bright colours and had an over-the-top style. Pankaj adapted all these qualities into his character and will be adding it to the song,” a source close to the actor said. The source added Pankaj is very keen to get his act right and is making all efforts to recreate the effect of that era in his performance with his outfits and dance.
