This is a ‘beautiful time’ in Vicky’s life

It would be apt if 2018 is called the breakthrough year for Vicky Kaushal. After all, he has witnessed back-to-back successes on the web and in cinema — Love per Square Foot, Raazi, Lust Stories, Sanju, and Manmarziyaan. Rightfully then, it’s believed that Vicky has come into his own now, but we wonder if this overnight success scares him. “You know, there’s a beautiful line from a Rudyard Kipling poem which, in essence, says that success and failures are imposters, and so you should learn to treat them in the same manner,” says the actor.

Adding that “there’s no way” he can take any of them — success or failure — for granted, Vicky says “both are a part and parcel of your life”. He adds, “If you look closely, you’ll realise that when one of them comes, the other goes and vice versa. I think like others, I also have to learn to take them into my stride.”

The Masaan actor states that what matters ultimately is the “journey that you take and the process you go through”.

“In that journey, you’ll taste success aur failure bhi hoga,” says the pragmatic Vicky. “As for me, I feel it’s just the start, so I’m learning a lot of new things and getting to work with some beautiful people. God is being really kind to me [because] he’s making me experience this beautiful time, but there’s a long way to go and lot more to learn. I’m not taking it [praise and success] very seriously or for granted.”

The actor insists that his “focus is on the moment, which is now”. That’s how it’s in life and at work. “So I’m like, ‘iss waqt jo main shooting kar raha hoon ya take de raha hoon, usko main puri imaandari se nibhau, because I’m an actor between action and cut. I have to do my job within that brief moment, and that requires me to be as honest as I can,” he says. “I’m very humbled about such a beautiful time and I thank God every day for it, but I know that I can’t take it to my head thinking that this is permanent because nothing is [permanent],” he signs off.
