‘Only possessive about my friends, not work’
Actor Mouni Roy had a successful transition from TV to Bollywood with her debut film Gold, where she was paired with actor Akshay Kumar. And soon after the film’s release, her next Bollywood projects were announced as well.
Ask her if the growing competition between actors to make it big in Bollywood, makes her insecure at any point about her own stand, and Mouni says, “I’m only anxious and possessive about my friends, not work. If you are living in the present, there would be very little things that you would be insecure about. I don’t want to be an insecure person at all, which is why I find myself being happy around friends and family.”
The actor has had a television career spanning a decade, which included shows such as Devon Ke Dev Mahadev and Naagin.
Mouni, who will next be seen in Bollywood with Made In
China and Brahmastra, adds, “I find myself a very non-filmy person and that makes me content with my television career.”
Calling herself director’s actor, she says, “Whatever my directors want me to do, I do it. It’s easier to follow one man’s vision and whoever has worked on a project, they have obviously done their research.” However, this doesn’t mean that she would not bring anything special to the table. “Of course, as an actor, you bring your energy and spontaneity to a project and I do my best to do that,” she adds.
Talking about her first Bollywood co-star Akshay Kumar, the actor recalls, “It has been an amazing experience. He is such a legend and I can go on and on about him. You realise why he is a great star. He is so humble and good to everyone. When you work with him, you realise that there is no hierarchy. And that’s something he creates on the sets.”
