‘I WILL SAFEGUARD MY DAUGHTER EMOTIONALLY’
Juhi Parmar talks about being a single parent and shielding her daughter from her bitter divorce
Right from the time they separated till the time their divorce was finalised last year, actor Juhi Parmar and ex-husband actor Sachin Shroff’s life has been out in the public domain. And the way it has been so acrimonious, it could have taken a toll on their six-yearold daughter, Samairra. However, Juhi insists that her only aim now is to protect her daughter against all the negativity around her divorce.
“Certain words were used, which should not have been because I don’t want any such content [to be available] for my child to read when she grows up. Unfortunately, I had to take a stand for myself because of certain things that were spoken against me,” shares Juhi. The actor says she will make Samairra understand that all of it was written the way it was only because of her mother’s profession. “Yes, now there are things for her to read but I’m there to protect her. By the time she reaches a stage when she is going to read it, I’m going to prepare her to know that whatever is written shouldn’t matter to her. I’m going to safeguard her emotionally. Even if she reads it, she’s going to understand that this is just because her mother is an actor,” says Juhi, who often shares pictures and videos with and of her daughter on social media.
Adding that Samairra has been “very strong in coping with her parent’s divorce” at such a young age, Juhi is confident that when her daughter grows up, she’ll be able to handle everything maturely.
“She has dealt with the most important part that a child has to deal with, and she has been very strong. I’m hoping that since she has shown these signs since childhood, by the time she reaches a stage where she will get to hear and talk about it with people, she will already know what to say and how to handle it,” Juhi says. After getting her daughter’s custody, Juhi has been fulfilling the duties of a single mother. “I’m playing a double role. I’m her mother and father, the nurturer and the provider. I take care of her emotional as well as financial needs,” Juhi says, adding that her parents are always there as her pillars of support.
