After debuting as an author with ‘Me and Mom’, two new books of national award winner Divya Dutta will soon be hitting the shelves — short stories and a second one, in the memoires genre. Meanwhile, the actor has already started getting offers to write stories or scripts for films.

“My friends and those I work with have already started asking me for stories for films and plays. The short stories that I am writing are for a book format. Writing for films, a play or a short film is very different. So, I may write something one day but God knows when, as I don’t plan and just go with the flow,” said the actor on a visit to Lucknow.

She said that writing has always been a hobby. “I have been writing columns regularly. Now, I am enjoying writing and two books will happen soon,” she said.

As an actor, she has six films in her kitty. “We had the screening of ‘Malala’ at the United Nations on January 26 in which I play her mother. The film has come out very well and it was great watching it with Malala’s (Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai) family. I have recently come back from London and now we are hearing there is some controversy as Pakistan is saying they won’t let it release,” she said.

Then she has romantic film ‘Music Teacher’ with Manav Kaul. “My next release will probably be Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Abhi To Party Shuru Hui Hai’ that we shot in Lucknow. Then I have children’s film ‘Jhalkee’, a thriller with Arshad Warsi and Juhi Chawla and a film on circus, ‘Ram Singh Charlie’. Besides, I will be starting a new web shot so there is lots happening.”

She is planning to go slow now. “I was always choosy about my work but now I am getting more selective. I am taking scripts which make my heart jump just by reading it. I am enjoying life and doing things that I want to do and the way I want to do.”

instinctive for me. As far as a guest appearances for ‘Thanda Gosht’ story in Manto is concerned, this was by far the most controversial and bold story that I took up. In fact, for the last two months that I have been travelling, I am getting so many positive reviews on it.

“The best compliment came when Manto’s daughter called me up and praised my work. These are the gems you pick up from the work. Anyway, I have never cared about the length of my work.”

On coming to Lucknow, for her short film ‘The Playboy Mr Sawhney’ she said, “It’s
