Odisha’s engineering college felicitates teachers
Aswatha Narayana made Odisha proud by winning the first ever gold medal for India at World Skills competition held in Kazan, Russia. A student of the CV Raman College of Engineering, his teachers, Hugo Van Nikerk, Rajat Kumar Samantaray, Debarprita Ghosal and Barnali Brahma were felicitated by Premananda Nayak, minister of state (Independent), skill development and technical education, Odisha for their outstanding contribution in providing world class training to Aswatha.
Subroto Bagchi, chairman, OSDA, Sanjay Kumar Singh, commissioner-cum-secretary, SDTE and Rashmikant Joshi, managing director, Festo India Pvt Ltd was also present for the felicitation.
Sanjib Kumar Rout, chairman of the college, said “To produce World Skill Champions we need to have more master trainers possessing thorough knowledge on World Skill evaluation, methodology and best practices.”
He added, “A full time programme is being offered to teachers to become master trainers at the Russian World Skill Academy. The trainers are taught the skills and knowledge required for World Skill competition. We plan to start our own World Skill Academy very soon in collaboration with many international companies to provide different programmes aligned with World Skill curriculum.”
Bagchi, said, “The vision and the sustained efforts from Sanjib Rout and everyone at CV Raman College are commendable. The institution is in cognizance with the government’s vision to make Odisha the foremost state for skill development. It is a model we want others to follow.”
