Shaleen waxes eloquent on his ‘ruhaani ehsaas’

- -SHRUTI MEHROTRA

For Shaleen Bhanot, acting is an ‘enchanting experience’ and a ‘ruhaani ehsaas’ (a soulful experience), where words are emoted through expressions. He describes how through it, he has seen the world. “In so many years, I have become like water: taking the shape of whatever the role demands of me. It helps me keep up with the expectations of the audience and give my best”.

Viewers will recall Bhanot as Ravana from Viacome18 TV Series’ ‘Ram Siya Ke Luv, Kush’. His first big outing on the small screen was ‘Saath Phere’ on Zee TV, quite popular among viewers. In between, Nach Baliye 4 happened, though his winning the reality TV show was a result of sheer grit and hard work.

In a telephonic converstation with HT City in between promotions and shoots, Bhanot talked about how he moved out of his comfort zone and his hometown, Jabalpur, to test his fortunes in the land of dreams – Mumbai.

Since, he has been seen in a number of serials including ‘Suryaputra Karn’, ‘Naaginn’ and ‘Sanya’, among others. Interestingly, he has played different roles in each serial. He stresses on never playing the same role twice, thereby, challenging himself to newer roles that bring out the best in him. “There is a great kick in overcoming a challenge. I absolutely love it,” said Bhanot.

Recently, he was also seen in a music video produced by T-series, for the album ‘Tujhe Paane Ko’ and was sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan.

Another project that he is currently working on is a web series, ‘The Red Land’, where he gets to play Bablu Thakur, a typical UP-ite, who is drunk on power. Describing the character, he said “woh nahi par uski bandook baat karti hai (his gun does most of the talking)”.

Bhanut credits the audience for his ever-growing fame but also justifies the audience reaction saying that magic is bound to happen when we give the audience something different from the mundane.

For youngsters chasing fame on celluloid, he said, “Be creative. One has the right to enjoy life but one should not deviate from one’s goal. Brew dreams; one day, they will turn into reality”.
