IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE
Being Women Foundation organised a charitable Karwachauth celebration to help the special kids of You and Me Community. On the occasion members came together sporting colourful ethnic attires to celebrate the day.
The day saw plenty of fun activities including a fashion show and dance performances on songs like ‘Ghoomar...,’ ‘Rangeelo maro’ and ‘Mere haatho me nau nau chudiya hai.’ A number of titles were also given away to Reshu, Rashmi, Shalini, Babita Surabhi and Shruti. Karwa Queens were Meetu Rastogi, Babita and Santosh. Saloni Kesarwani Namrata Tiwari, Hina Nadeem hosted the bash.
The second edition of Baithaki, a platform created for exclusive classical performances for a small select audience was organised by Cultural Quest, an NGO founded by Surabhi Singh at a city hotel, recently. The event featured Indian classical singer pandit Ajay Pohankar, an internationally known artiste and ‘Thumri’ exponent who presented a beautiful rendition of ‘Raag Jog’ which left all mesmerised. His famous ‘Thumri’ composition ‘Baju bandh Khuli Khuli Jaaye’ and he also explained the nuances of the impact of different ‘Laye’ and ‘Taal.’
The the programme started with a traditional Kathak dance ‘Nritya Parvaah Teen Taal’ performed by the students of Gurukul under the direction of Kathak guru Surabhi Singh. This was followed by Ghazals by Lucknow’s emerging singer Priyanshi Srivastava, who has won many reality shows. Other performers were, pandit Dharma Nath Mishra on ‘Harmonium,’ pandit Arun Bhatt ji on ‘Tabla,’ Shri Dinkar on ‘Tanpura,’ along with pandit Vikas Mishra, Brijendra Srivastava, Dhreejendra and Surabhi Singh on ‘Padhanta.’ The functionaries of the organization, Tanuj Narain, Vikas Mishra, Sahara Bano and disciples master Shiv and Srishti conducted the event. The programme was attended by Birju Maharaj’s chief disciple Saswati Sen, who herself is an accomplished Kathak guru, and in her address highly appreciated this initiative
