A colourful mix of different art forms
An art exhibition titled ‘Macedoine’ was recently held at Kala Srot Gallery, Aliganj. Dedicated to promote contemporary art practices, the gallery showcased the works of Daman Singh and Nida Hajira. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday with PHDCCI state chapter cochairman Gaurav Prakash as special guest.
Artist Daman Singh displayed 15 paintings which experimented with different forms of paintings like abstract, contemporary, and realistic and landscape paintings. Drawing inspiration from the bold imagery and bright colour palette of pop art, she merged this technique into an Indian theme. “I am a self-taught artist and grew up in an artistic atmosphere since my mother was very fond of collecting paintings and crafting decors while my father was into creative writing. I have experimented a lot with different styles of paintings and am glad that everybody likes it.”
Nida Hajira brought the different aspects of nature to life through her work. She captured nature in its different forms be it the change in seasons, the bloom of spring or the different colors of autumn. “The spontaneity and vulnerability of watercolors has always intrigued me. In our busy lives, we often forget to appreciate the beauty around us. Through my work, I want people to pause for a moment, experience and cherish the beauty of nature. I personally believe that art is a beautiful means of nurture, soothe and rejuvenate our souls.”
