Diverse roles choose the actor in me: Vijay

Actor Vijay Varma has been making noise for the right reasons since 2019, when Gully Boy allowed him a chance to showcase his acting chops. His portrayal of the street smart, good-at-heart Moeen displayed different shades to him, and ended up in a lot of offers coming his way.

Currently, Vijay has his hands full, but he’s making a conscious effort to play different roles. While on one hand he has Baaghi 3, an outand-out action film with Tiger Shroff, he will also be seen in Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy, a period drama. “With such a variety of roles being offered to me, it looks like all these interesting roles are choosing the actor in me. I feel great to play such diverse parts, as they only help me better my craft. It is overwhelming to see makers believing in me with such roles. I have been trying to bring all my different shades to the table and I hope fans like it,” he says.

A source close to the actor reveals that though he has been swamped with offers to play characters similar to Moeen, Vijay is having none of it. “While his multi-layered role in Gully Boy got many talking, he also stood out in Super 30 (as Fugga Kumar). Going forward, Vijay not only has an interesting but an experimental line up. Recently, we saw him attempt the horror genre in Ghost Stories, too. He is making sure he brings something new to the table every time, so that audiences know they can expect different things from him,” our source adds.

I have never really been completely away from acting. I love the craft and the minute I step on to a set, even after a hiatus, I feel like I had never been away. NIKI WALIA, ACTOR
