Go green at Sanatkada
To reduce the use of plastic and other harmful waste, the team of Mahindra Sanatkada Lucknow Festival has announced the launch of #GoGreen campaign. This year’s theme for the MSLF is ‘Awadh Ke Qasbati Rang’ which will feature the culture, food, handicrafts and, heritage of 22 qasbas around Lucknow. Events such as band performances, live demonstrations and literary talks were discussed at the conference as well.
During a media briefing Sanatkada founder Madhavi Kuckreja informed that there will be a minimal use of flex printing which requires plastic for sign boards.
The signs at the food festival and craft stalls will be painted on canvas by hand. Decorations from last year will be reused as well. Throughout the festival complex, there will dustbins equipped for wet and dry waste segregation. No stalls will sell plastic water bottles around the complex as well. Both water and cold drinks will be sold in glass bottles.
The MSLF will also encourage visitors to bring their own bottles. They can fill their bottles with matkas present all over the complex. All the waste from the catering for the volunteers’ team will be used as compost.
Harshita Mishra from the Sanatkada team said, “This is the first time our festival is promoting this campaign and therefore we decided to proceed with small steps. Even our team is personally trying to reduce waste by using e-copies of everything rather than physical ones.”
Noor Khan, Askari Naqvi, and other members of the Sanatkada team were present as well. Riyaz Alvi from Kakori, Mohammed Yunus, Raja and Rani of Maharajganj and, Sabiha Anwar from Sandila were also present.
