Bollywood singer and Sufi performer Kavita Seth created magic with her power-packed performance at the HCL Concerts show held at Kala Mandapam Auditorium on Saturday. The singer presented choicest of Sufi songs and vowed the audience with Sufi numbers of Bulleh Shah, Amir Khusro, Kabir and others.

She opened with ‘Yaar mera gaar mera’ and performed ‘Na tera khuda’, hhap tilak’, ‘Mann kunto maula’, ‘Ek nazar mere sarkar’, ‘Jheeni re jheeni’ and Sab jag maya’ to name a few. The audience capped with her songs and she made them sing with her as well.

Seth also presented some ghazals and on huge demand on the audience she performed her ‘Iktara’ song from the film ‘Wake Up Sid’ for which she received thunderous applause.

The artiste accompanying her were Kanishk Seth on abelton, Rajat Prasanna on flute, Varun Kapahi on bass guitar, Nitesh Ranadive on percussion, Mangesh Jagtap on santoor and Ashis Biswas on tabla.

Rohit Kaul, marketing head of the Concerts said, “In 2017, we started our musical series with Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasiaji and many legends have been since then. Then, we did Indian classical fusion with folk music and Western instruments. Now, we are consciously expanding the platform to all the music that is rooted in India. Kavitaji has great body of work in Sufi music so that’s why she was our first choice and we will keep on bringing more things to our platform.”

For wider audience, they have started digital live concerts on their platform in which artistes apply and an elite jury selects the artistes and they chance to perform for the global audience. “Some good one will get chance to perform live in physical concerts as well,” he added.
