This Eid is about celebration with close family

- Deep Saxena PROF QAMAR REHMAN HAZI ZUBAIR & SAUD AHMED ASMA HUSSAIN ABU BAKAR SAJID AHMED QURESHI,

We are in Lockdown 4.0 and people have now started venturing out of their homes as per their need. But that does not Eid will also be a grand affair. As per the call by clerics and lockdown norms, people will stay home, pray at home and celebrate festival without that lavish spread. HT City talks to some Lucknowites:

Every year, after prayers we use to meet and relish sheerqurma/sewain. This time it will just be prayers. Instead, we will be helping the needy by distributing raw material in the locality through our foundation FEED. My message this Eid is to help the migrant workers. As it is due to lockdown no one will come and nor am I moving out.

One can’t think about Eid without sewain, biryani, kulcha-nahari and kebabs. People visit us for nonvegetarian delicacies but since mutton is not available so it will be just siwain, muzaffar, dahi-ki-phulki and chana-chola on the menu card. The money we

This year we have a new baby at home as my daughter is here to I have stitched a dress for him as this is his first Eid. It’s a special occasion for us. Otherwise, it going to be a simple affair as everyone will be here at home only for prayers. We will be cooking ‘thoda-thoda’ food items this time as no one will be visiting nor are we spend for celebration, we are giving to the poor. Inshallah, next time we will have a grand occasion! I hope and pray that this ‘musibat’ (pandemic) gets over.

The day will be celebrated with family members at home as we are some 12 people living together. After namaz we will sit together and celebrate the festival at home and prepare some dishes at home. Initially, we wanted calling anyone. Normally 200-400 people use to visit us on Eid and we used to prepare a lavish spread for them but it is okay as it’s important to be safe. We also thought of preparing some stuff and sending to close ones but everyone is taking precautions. Next time!

On Eid this year we will offer namaz and then have little bit of sewain and sheer qorma that will be made for ‘shagun’. We are giving non-vegetarian delicacies a miss and will just stay back at home. We are not going out at all and don’t expect people to come in this ‘mahaul’ (atmosphere). This year no new clothes have been made for anyone in the family. to get new clothe for kids but then decided against it. For safety purpose, we won’t be going also out and I feel everyone is thinking the same. Hopefully, we will celebrate next time!
