UNLOCKING THE LOCKDOWN Stay mentally safe and physically happy
Safety in times of Covid19 does not mean social but physical distancing, washing of hands repeatedly, sanitizer usage and mask wearing. These define physical safety of the people. However, in these times, mental and emotional safety is equally important for our psyche which develops from loving our own company and enjoying the process of isolation. Physical distancing can clear mental chatter, give clarity of mind and make us experience inner peace. It will improve and heal relationships due to longing.
Living in the corona phase can build parallel feeling of fear and stress. To skip thoughts of uncertainty, we should choose activities enjoyable and gratifying like calling a friend, taking a walk, listening to music, reading a book and focus on creation than consumption of news. We should try decatastrophizing that is examining our thoughts and what factual information we consume at the moment. Avoid overloading the time spent on social media platforms as this will help to keep the mind calmer.
To build happiness, focus on what we have control over. Ensuring the practice of physical distancing will empower us. Human interaction is greed and not need. Incessant washing of hands is more vital than deep breathing. Making a routine, meticulous planning and being properly dressed will keep motivational levels elevated. There is a lesson in dressing up for the mirror as it sees through our soul and that is not possible for the outer world to see. Keeping the same sleep cycle will keep our endorphins high and will also not interrupt our hormonal world which ultimately if shaken, disturbs harmony of mind.
A sedentary lifestyle and prioritising the inconsequential over health will lead to a greater problem post Covid19. Sweating, exercising or pranayams will keep optimum levels of happiness in swing. Importance of breathing natural air outdoors should be a mandate. Waking up with mindfulness and thanking god for being alive will keep ensure a positive start of the day. At the end of the day, put a corona virus news curfew post 7pm because being a disciplinarian will win the show towards the end of the pandemic.
Uncertainty is here to stay but as humans it is our job to intersperse it with safety and substitute it with worthy memories and intention to succumb to a sustainable happy future in the post corona world.
