The bond we share with our siblings can be amazing as it’s all about source of comfort and friendship. This year, Friendship Day and Rakshabandhan both occasions occurred one after the other so there is much to celebrate for the siblings around the world who not only share biological bond but also nurture a special friendship with each other. We spoke to a few such siblings who are all in full mood to celebrate the days with fun and frolic.

For youngster Deepak Sharma, both of his elder sisters have been his friend, philosopher and guide. “I don’t remember a single day when we three didn’t argue but at the same time we just can’t live without each other. We support each other in almost everything be it studies, family or opting careers. They are my pillars of strength,” he said.

It’s every parents dream for their children to get along and to be there for each other but lucky there are few whose kids bond and have limitless affection towards their siblings. One such parent is Anjali Sharma, talking about her experience, “My children have always been sharing and caring. They stand by each other and that actually is the reason for me to take up a job and work with no tension. As parents, me and my husband, we are bit carefree as we know that our children will never leave each other alone in this life. Both of them have celebrated both the days with lots of fun and also surprised each other. This year too they will enjoy the occasions to the fullest.”

Sisters Deeksha and Aradhana have been each other’s guider and supporter. “My sister has been tying rakhi to me since childhood and that has made me more loving and protective towards her. As we grew up we starting sharing everything and became each other’s emotional support and the bond we share has been our strongest hold up in this competitive world. We don’t let each other falter at all,” shares Deeksha.

Then there are those who have been a single child but have created a sibling bond with either a friend or a cousin. For student and blogger Deepankur Saxena his maternal aunt’s daughter is just a call away when he needs his sister’s shoulder to balance the up and downs of life. “We have stood the test of time and our bond is too special. I love to cook for her, all her favourite dishes and she too helps me in numerous ways. We are best of friends and have plans to celebrate both the occasions wholeheartedly.” The celebration became special with Friendhip Day and Rakshabandhan both falling back-to-back, he adds.
