Billboard Music Awards: Priyanka ups glam quotient, Drake wins big

Billboard Music Awards 2021 took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night and witnessed star couple, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and singer Nick Jonas, grab all the eyeballs, as they walked the red carpet in contrasting green and beige outfits.

While Nick hosted the night, Priyanka was one of the presenters and wore a sheer nude plunge dress with a high leg slit by Dolce & Gabbana with Bulgari jewellery.

At the awards, Drake was named artist of the decade, who accepted the honour alongside his 3-year-old son, Adonis. He extended his record as the most decorated winner in the history of the awards show by taking the tally to 29 wins. “I wanna dedicate this to my friends, to my collaborators ... to my family, and to you,” he said, looking to Adonis.

Also turning the show into a family affair was singer Pink, who received the Icon Award and was joined onstage by her 9-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart, — showing off their powerful gymnastic skills as they spun in the air in a jawdropping performance. Pink’s performance was one of several pre-taped moments, which were aired during the show. Live performances were held outdoors, in front of audience members wearing masks.

The Weeknd was on hand to accept the most wins of the night — 10. He won honours such as top artist, top Hot 100 song for Blinding Lights and top R&B album for After Hours. The late rapper Pop Smoke was also a big winner and posthumously earned five honours, including his debut — Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon — winning top rap album.

Other winners of the night included Bad Bunny and BTS, who both won four awards and also performed. Singer Gabby Barrett won three awards, including top female country artist. Stars such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Kanye West won honours at the show though they didn’t attend.
