Sidharth Malhotra says he’s now allotting time to playing interesting characters

Actor

Born to a former captain in the Merchant Navy and a homemaker, Sidharth Malhotra had no connections in the film industry. The actor, who marked his debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year (2012), believes that he has learnt the skills to survive in the industry on his own. “I came from a non-film background and I didn’t have anyone to guide and tell me how to behave off-camera. Over the years, I have figured it out on my own,” says Malhotra.

He shares that his early years in showbiz were spent “handling egos”, but he has now learnt to focus on things that matter. “There were many people to deal with. It wasn’t fruitful and was timeconsuming. Right now, I’m allotting my time to making passionate movies and playing interesting characters,” he shares.

The success of Shershaah has changed the actor’s approach towards his craft. Talking about it, Malhotra says, “Now, I’m far more passionate and involved in the scripts that I’ve got. That’s consuming my energy. Shershaah is just the beginning of that. I am hoping that it will set a tone for all of my upcoming movies. I want to tell stories in the most natural and inspiring way.”

The actor was seen engaging in high-octane action in Marjaavaan (2019). And after Shershaah, he has Mission Majnu and an untitled actioner in the pipeline.

Having developed an appetite for action thrillers, Malhotra says, “I’m more inclined towards action thrillers. As a child, I grew up watching underdog heroes overcoming fear, and eventually reaching their best potential. I draw great inspiration from such characters.”
