Artifacts by Lucknowites on display in Korea!
Artwork of four Lucknowites is being showcased at the Geumgang Nature Art PreBiennale in the city of Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. Work of Bhupesh Kumar Asthana, Dheeraj Yadav, Girish Pandey and Manisha Kumari has been featured at the international exhibition.
365 artists from across the globe have been given a platform to showcase their work of art made out of natural elements based on environment-human friendly subjects.
Asthana’s artifact is in form of a burger representing hunger. “Since only natural elements were allowed as components, I have used dry leaves and wood peels. My focus was to highlight human hunger through burger which is a distant desire for a deprived. It’s a matter of pride that our work is being showcased alongside the artistes from all over the world,” he says.
Through his work of art, Yadav has represented India’s rich culture. “In our culture cow dung is considered auspicious and used in several rituals and festivals. Using cow dung, I have given my artifact a geometric shape,” he shares.
With his work Pandey showcased a wrecked temple of Van Devta. “I have tried to present that we pray to different deities and Van Devta is one of them. At the same time, we humans are cutting down forests in the name of development. So, this artifact shows how place of worship is now in a sad state due to deforestation.”
Another artist Kumari has used wooden cubes in geometrical pattern to showcase Indian architecture through abstract art. The exhibition will be on display till November 30, 2021.
