The ‘drama queen’ ruled the stage!

Actor Suchitra Krishnamoo­rthi showed her acting prowess with her solo play Drama Queen in the state capital. The actor picked up slices from her life and weaved it into a comical act.

Directed by Randhir Roy, the play is a combinatio­n of the different hats the Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa actor dons.

Ruling the stage, solely, the backdrop was lit-up with her paintings; the content has been picked from her own book with the same name inspired from her life. She also used her singing skills perfectly during the musical play.

The 80-minute act took the audience on a comical ride. Krishnamoo­rthi showcased her experience on the eventful years post her divorce from Shekhar Kapur, fame and everything that a girl could possibly want – to the present. It is a fictionali­zed memoir supported by a fine cast of some of India’s finest actors

Rajika Mittra and Pooja Chadha and personalit­ies in voice-over roles, that makes people laugh, cry and look at the modern Indian woman in a whole new light.

“A slice of life peppered with humour, the play is a complete emotional roller coaster based on my memoir, rewriting the boundaries of womanhood. Having seen the glamour world very closely, it’s all about how as a single mother I coped up with life after divorce. The phase has been shown in a comical light which makes people laugh and that’s what we need in this pandemic era — entertainm­ent,” says Krishnamoo­rthi.

Show organisers Rajika Mittra and Pooja Chadha welcomed the guests who turned up in large number for the entertaini­ng evening. “It’s great to see plays and social evening happening once again. After the tough phase it’s the need of the hour,” says veteran actor Anil Rastogi.

Film producer Guneet Monga announced her engagement to fashion entreprene­ur Sunny Kapoor. On Monday, the producer of Period. End Of Sentence.(2018) took to Instagram and shared a bunch of pics from the engagement ceremony, held in a hotel in Delhi. Monga, 38, also revealed that she wore her mother’s saree from her engagement. She wrote, “Sometimes the wrong train leads you to the right station’. And that’s where I found Sunny, my companion on our journey ahead for life. Feel Mom and Dad’s blessings wearing this saree Mom wore on her engagement day.”

Her industry peers such as actors Dia Mirza Rekhi, Rakul Preet Singh, filmmaker Karan Johar congratula­ted the couple.
