pposites attract — no adage better describes newlyweds, actor Tanya Abrol and IT professional Aashish Verma. The two met in 2021 and instantly hit it off. About where it all began, Abrol tells us, “I got to know him via common friends. Within a few months, we started dating and decided to get married soon! We are very opposite in nature in some areas, but the core values are the same. That completes us.”
Abrol, best known for playing Balbir Kaur in Chak De! India (2007), got married to Verma in
Chandigarh on February 9. Currently in her sasural, she is taking a 10-day break to “enjoy this period”. “My in-laws stay in Solan (Himachal Pradesh), so I will be here for a few days. The bag with the bride’s stuff is called sandook in Punjabi. It will first come to Solan and then go to Noida, where I will be staying with my husband. That will be my permanent base. But, I will be travelling to Mumbai quite often for work,” she shares.
Ask about the wedding, and the 37-year-old reveals she took care of most of the arrangements herself. “I think I shouldn’t have done that. Imagine, during my pheras, I was asked about things and I was like, ‘I don’t know, ab joh hai jaisa hai woh manage kar lo!’ she recalls.
One of the highlights of the wedding was her reunion with the Chak De! cast, including actors Chitrashi Rawat, Shilpa Shukla, Vidya M Malavade, Arya Menon, Seema Azmi and Shubhi Mehta Bajpai. “We met back to back; first at Chitrashi’s wedding and then mine. These girls were like, ‘Yeh kya kiya tum dono ne, sab dresses we will have to sort now’. But they made it, and it was amazing. Everybody has people they go to in their happy moments and in trouble, that is the bond I share with these girls,” she wraps up.
