HATTRICK FOR VIJAY’S JOY!
Winning the third horse race of the season, thoroughbred Vijay’s Joy won the Army Commander’s Cup held at Lucknow Race Course. The horse race is held every year at the Army cantonment.
A jazz band performance and vintage car rally were also held on the occasion.
Earlier, Army Commander and General Officer Commanding-in-chief of the Central Command Lt Gen Yogendra Dimri with Army Wives Welfare Association regional president Nidhi Dimri made a grand entry on the ceremonial buggy amidst performance by Army’s Bugle Band.
The event opened with a vintage car rally and performance by Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre’s Jazz band. During the Thoroughbred Race, Amar Habibullah and Mohit Bhargava’s Vijay’s Joy zipped passed others in the race. Jockey Mohd Islam took a lead since the start of the race and comfortably won the race. Joy was followed by JN
Mathur’s Dark Tiger and SA Naqvi’s Jumeira Express.
“This is Joy’s third win in this season. He is with us since 2017 and has won all the races in last five years except three races. In two of them he was disqualified while lost one. He is having a remarkable run,” says an elated Habibullah. In the Indianbred race Aprajita Mathur’s Doughnut won the race followed by Night Queen and Rudra. Kacker (LRC, president) gave away the prizes. Several prizes were given away on the occasion.
The best hat gentleman went to Col Aulakh, best hat lady to Yogita Singh, best dressed lady to Tulika Khare, best dressed gentleman to Lt Col Om Pathne, made for each other couple to Capt Om Pathne and wife while in the senior category the prize went to Maj Gen Pawan Anand and his wife.
