Academy Awardwinning composer AR Rahman’s son, musician AR Ameen, revealed that he escaped a major accident on a set in Mumbai while shooting for a music video. The mishap reportedly took place on

March 2, around 1am, when the team was filming a song in Film City. Ameen wrote on social media: “I trusted the team to have taken care of the engineering and safety while I was focusing on performing in front of the camera. The whole truss and chandeliers that were suspended from a crane came crashing down while I was in the middle of the spot.

If it were a few inches here and there, a few seconds earlier or later, the whole rig would have fallen on our heads. My team and I are shell-shocked, unable to recover from the trauma.”

Recently, singer Benny Dayal also had an unpleasant experience at a concert in Chennai, wherein he was injured by a drone. Taking into consideration such unfortunate incidents, Rahman has now called for renewed focus on safety measures. “My son Ameen and his styling team escaped a potentially fatal disaster. As we, as an industry, grow, we need to have a movement towards world-class safety standards on Indian sets and locations. We’re all quite shaken and await the results of the investigation by the insurance company as well as the production company.”

Ridhesh Sejpal, founder of the said production house, says due diligence was exercised prior to the shoot. “Even the cranes were all audited. The investigation is underway and we, too, are waiting to understand how the unfortunate incident happened,” adds Sejpal.
