INDIE PAWS TURN SHOWSTOPPERS
With their tails wagging and eyes shining with oodles of love and excitement, the furry babies had a day out as they participated in the Dog and Fashion Show held at the football ground beside the majestic Dilkusha Palace Garden recently.
In the show, 306 dogs of 36 breeds participated in five categories – minor puppy, puppy, junior, open class and veterans.
“In each category, the winners qualified for the ‘best of breed round’ amongst which the ‘best of show’ winners were selected,” said Dr Rajneesh Chandra, vice president of Awadh Pet Practitioner’s Association (APPA).
The highlight of the event was a dazzling fashion show of Indie dogs in which pets sashayed down the ramp with their owners. Adorning pearl necklace and other dazzling ornaments, funky caps, designer apparel, and sunglasses, the participants were loudly cheered during the walk. Indian breed Handsome emerged winner in the fashion show. Priya Shastri’s pet Hazel was adjudged runners-up.
Breeds were divided into five groups, toy, terrier, gun dog, utility and working group which included Jack Russell Terrier, Lhasa Apso, Miniature Pinscher, French Poodle, Chow Chow, Rampur Hound, such events are needed to give the positive message that they are the best friends around,” said APPA president Dr Rahul Chandra.
Pranay Mohan Jaiswal, who is running an enterprise in memory of his Golden Retriever, said, “My best friend left us last year on April 3. So, to make him immortal, we opened Leo’s Kitchen in Gomti Nagar and every day we feed 150 stray dogs through it. I see him in every furry friend.”
