Young readers in Lucknow are having a gala time. With old and new book shops busy restocking collection and frequent book fairs in the city have given them more than one reason to smile this vacation.

Young buyers

Student Naureen Zehra who is in Lucknow for her term break, says, “I call myself bookworm and books are my best companion during my hostel stay. When it comes to buying books, I buy a lot from shops in Hazratgunj. Be it fiction or lifestyle we get the best of collection here. So, I prefer restocking my collection over the time.”

For some, books shops and fairs takes them closer to their love for reading. Avid reader and a management student Yuvraj S Singh says, “Thankfully book reading has gone a notch up during the times of pandemic. We friends have actually started to read more. Today’s youth want to create a balance between

technology and real life. With frequent fairs back in the city we get books at discounted prices and offers are too tempting not to fall for.

The fair organisers

Organising member of an ongoing book fair in the city, Vidyut Sharma says, “We have been taking our exhibition to maximum cities as post-Covid wave people youth are getting

back to reading slowly, especially teenagers. We at Bookchor have come up with LockTheBox Bookfair for the second time in the city at a recently opened mall in Alambagh. It’s a concept of spreading readership across the country where you don’t need to pay for individual books, you just pay for a box and carry home all the books you can fit in it. Not limited by the number of books and genre. We give a choice of three different box types at affordable prices. Also, customers can find buyers and sell books too.” The fair will conclude on June 4.
