INDIA’S LARGEST MAN-MADE LAKE IS HERE
Janeshwar Mishra Park opens on August 5, offers relaxation in pristine, scenic surroundings
The sprawling park would be formally inaugurated by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on August 5, the birth anniversary of party icon Mishra. A world-class musical and dancing fountain akin to the one at Burj Dubai, world’s tallest building, will also come up at the park soon. While pedal boats from Mumbai are expected to arrive by Monday, one gondola boat is already here. A golf course and seven themed-gardens, play area for children and walking, jogging and cycling tracks will also be part of the park.
All roads would lead to the sprawling Janeshwar Misra Lucknow Park on August 5, the day it would be formally thrown open to the people by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Senior bureaucrats in the CM’s office paid a visit to the site on Saturday for an on the spot inspection of the arrangements in what is being billed as the largest park of the state.
Work is on at the venue round the clock. However, due to rain, the statue of Janeshwar Misra would not get installed at the site on Tuesday, when the Samajwadi Party would celebrate the party icon’s birth anniversary.
Water is being pumped into the park’s main water body and meandering canal that has been billed as one of the biggest manmade lakes in the country.“We will install a world-class musical and dancing fountain akin to the one at Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest building,” said an official supervising the work. Talks, he said, were on with a leading Florida-based firm to design the concept and make a presentation before the CM. While pedal boats from Mumbai are expected to arrive by Monday, a gondola (venetian rowing boat) has been specially requisitioned from Greater Noida to mark the occasion.
Though the area earmarked for the park was 375-acres, the authorities were told to beau- tify and develop only a 90-acre chunk initially because of a pending court case. “There is no rush now and we have been told to plan for the entire project area that also includes a golf course and seven themed gardens, besides an exclusive play area for children and walking, jogging and cycling tracks for athletes and sportspersons,” the official said.
