‘Keep setting milestones for successful career’

CII Yi and Jaipuria Institute Of Management organised a book inaugural ceremony at Jaipuria Institute of Management on Saturday with Dr Sumit D Chowdhury, named “Rules of the Game”.

Dr Sumit Datta Chowdhury (president, Enterprise Business of Reliance Jio) took a brilliant session for an audience of around 200 students, faculties, and profession­als. In the interactiv­e session he suggested strategies to make an effective, determinis­tic and meaningful career.

Dr Sumit said, “Approachin­g your career is a game and you are its star player. We can take con- trol of our career by being aware and continuous­ly prepared for changes and opportunit­ies.”

He also shared his experience about his j our ney. He started with Philips as a project manager to the position he presently holds being the president at the Reliance Jio. He mentioned his mantra of successful career as a process of setting and achieving the milestones in one’s life and keep moving ahead for more.

Divij Narain, co chair, Yi Lucknow said, “Today, the real competitiv­eness lies in the fact as to how well we plan and the methods or the resources we apply to realize it and for this to happen we need to bring in all the necessary changes in our attitudina­l design to become more pro-active learner.”

According to him, most of the self-help books enumerate lots of rules to be followed, and memorising those rules itself becomes a daunting task unless one internalis­es these.

Dr Dheeraj Misra, dean, Jaipuria Institute of Management, said, the right way to approach one’s career is to follow your dreams and where interest lies. He said it does not matter to which background we belong to but what background we build throughout our career by putting in our uncompromi­sing dedication.
