-

VARANASI: The three widows of Nepali origin, who had tied Rakhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi this Rakshabandhan, would not meet their brother during his first trip to temple town after becoming the PM. Shakuntala Dhakal, Savitri and Haripriya of Nepali old age home at Lalita ghat, near centuries-old Nepali temple that is a replica of Pashupatinath temple of Nepal, had gone to Delhi along with members of Sulabh International to Delhi to tie rakhi to Modi. Swami Omkara Nand Giri, president of Samrajyesva Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir tatha Dharmshala Sanchalak Samiti said, “We got the information of his current trip late. Therefore, we were not able to send the invitation to prime minister to visit the women residing here.” However, the women at the old age home seemed exciting on the PM’s visit to the town. “Savitri and I did not get an opportunity to meet the prime minister last time. Only Shakuntala went inside the hall representing us. We just hope to meet Narendra Modi this time,” said Haripriya.
