STF busts gang, arrests four

Gang leader reveals that he managed to get a set of question papers through his links in the railways

LUCKNOW: The Special Task Force (STF) of UP police claimed to have busted a gang involved in question paper leak of railway recruitmen­t board (RRB), Kolkata. Police arrested four persons including a retired RDSO employee, the alleged gang leader, on the campus of Umrao cineplex here in Mahanagar area on Thursday.

The police said officials of RDSO had been informed about the leakage and provided a sample of the set of question papers recovered from the gang leader. The RDSO officials can now substitute the leaked paper with another set.

Meanwhile, those arrested were identified as Vijay Bahadur, retired employee of Research Design and Standard Organisati­on (RDSO) of ministry of railways, Prahlad Kumar Meena, Dinesh Tiwari and Narsilal Meena. The STF sleuths recovered a laptop and some documents related to RRB,

Speaking on the occasion, additional superinten­dent of police (ASP) of STF Triveni Singh said the STF was getting informatio­n about such gang operating from Lucknow. He said the STF also had inputs from Rajasthan police about the same gang, which was planning to leak the question papers of the second phase of examinatio­n for the post of loco pilot announced by RRB, Kolkata. He said a team of STF was tracking the locations of some suspects and arrested them from the cineplex campus.

During interrogat­ion, the gang leader revealed that he managed to get a set of question papers through his links in the railways, as the RDSO where he earlier worked was only organis- ing the second phase of examinatio­n for the loco pilot.

He sold out these question papers to aspirants and some coaching centers in return of money.

The ASP said the gang leader’s link is with the interstate gang involved in leaking question of different competitiv­e examinatio­ns.

He said the gang has its network across different states i ncluding Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh.
