Check illegal LPG kit vehicles ferrying school kids, says HC
ALLAHABAD: In an important judgment with regard to safety of school going children, the Allahabad high court has directed the administration, transport department officials and police to come down heavily on those illegally fitted LPG kit vehicles that were ferrying children to and from schools.
The division bench of chief justice Dr DY Chandrachud and justice PKS Baghel while issuing a direction to the Allahabad administration, transport department and the police has said they should get in touch with schools and take stern steps against owners of such LPG fitted vehicles that were plying illegally thereby risking lives of schoolchildren.
The order came while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by one Aman Mani Tripathi and four other law interns.
The high court has also directed schools to apprise all such vehicle owners of the impending action against them. The court has also directed that parents of children should also be told not to send their wards in such vehicles that were being run on illegal LPG fitted kits.
The court has also directed the district magistrate of Allahabad to convene a meeting of schools, parents and petitioner lawyers.
