LUCKNOW: From August 15, Ganjing is set to become a techsavvy affair for visitors. The district administration will make the market area a wi-fi zone with 4-G connectivity and the initiative is expected to boost footfall in the ‘Oxford Street’ of Lucknow.

The wi-fi facility would be free of cost for the first 30 minutes. After that, the visitors would have to pay for the services, said sources.

Of f i cials of t he district administration confirmed that the district magistrate had set a deadline of August 15 for mak- ing Hazratganj a wi-fi zone. A private telecom giant that has laid 4 G cables all over the city has been asked to complete trials for the service.

Officials said that the facility would make the entire stretch of Ganj wi-fi enabled and any smart phone/tab user would be able to use the Net.

Lucknow’s Sm art City dream would be boosted by wi-fi Ganj initiative, said sources. The f acility is already available at the airport and railway station. However, Hazratganj would be the first market of Lucknow to go wi-fi.

Authorities said the state capital had the potential of tur ning public places into wi-fi zones once the 4 G cable network is laid.

They said 4G connectivity would mean good savings for those coming for Ganjing. Students attending coaching classes in the periphery of Ganj would also benefit from the service.
