LUCKNOW: Theatre expert Mukesh Verma is ready to stage his new play based on an episode of hen theft in Rampur-the complaint for which reached police and gradually to the Governor.

The play “Murg Baang’’ will be staged in October. But this time the story would not just be limited to stage as Mukesh has decided to make a film on the same subject.

While the story and direction would be done by Mukesh, the technical assistance and other help would be from like-minded professionals of the state.

“Much like Peepli Live and Miss Tanakpur, the film would hammer on the system. However, we have decided not to rope in any biggies for production because we did not want to lose on the theme and wanted to focus on the issue alone,” Mukesh told HT.

Mukesh feels that unlike a typical bollywood flick, his film would not have any item song. “Its strength would be the theme and simplicity,” he said.

Talking about the theme, Mukesh said both the play and the film would be based on the Rampur incident.

Mukesh, who has been known for his plays on Mayawati’s sandle episode -’’My Sandle’’- which was banned by then BSP-led government in the state. His other plays have been based on the anomalies of the culture department, Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case, Azam Khan’s buffalo story-titled ‘’Banno’’, and disrespect shown to Mahatma Gandhi in one of the government offices-’’Satyagrih’’, the Delhi gang rape, menace of ragging etc.
