LUCKNOW: The state government appears to be racing against time to get major development projects completed before the official machinery formally switches over to the poll mode in Uttar Pradesh for the state assembly election due in 2017.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked senior officers to give a timeline on a project-to-project basis to ensure that no project lingers beyond October 2016.

The major development projects are in different phases of implementation at present.

As of now, the chief minister’s secretariat is busy holding meetings with the officers of various agencies involved in the implementation of the projects.

“Most of the projects should be completed before October 2016. If a project can’t be completed by October 2016, the implementation should be planned in such a manner that the phases useful for the public get implemented in minimum possible time,” said a letter from the chief minister’s office to the implementing agencies that include Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nir man Nig am (UPRNN), Construction and Design Services
