Contrasting wins mark day one
LUCKNOW: Govt Jubilee Inter College, St Fidelis and Colvin Taluqdars College notched up contrasting wins to make it to the next round of the 14th Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial InterSchool Football Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Monday.
On the opening day, Govt Jubilee Inter College defeated LPC 4-1, St Fidelis beat CMS, Aliganj 4-2 in tie-break after the two sides ended in 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time. Colvin Taluqdars College had a walkover from Police Modern School, which failed to turn up.
BIG VICTORY
Army Medical Corps (AMC) defeated Castle Football Club (CFC) by 6-0 to collect full points in the District Football League-2015, at the Chowk Stadium here on Monday. K Lakra scored a brace, whereas Johnson, Methui, Noasang and K Mauna shared four goals between them.
In the second match of the day, Union Club defeated Fidles Football Club by 2-0. Nihal Singh and Saurabh scored a goal each. UP Postal had a solitary goal win against Vijay Club in the third and the final match of the day. Hasan scored the all-important in the 28th minute.
CHESS TOURNEY
Pt Ram Adhar Shukla Memorial Open Chess Tournament will be held on August 8 and 9, at the Avijai Chess Academy here. The tournament will be played under Swiss system and FIDE Rules in six rounds. Entry closes on August 7.
