UP govt has no control over law and order: Cong
LUCKNOW: The Congress on Wednesday alleged that the Akhilesh Yadav government did not have any control over the state administration and the law and order situation was at the lowest ebb in Uttar Pradesh.
“There will be no riots if the state government decides so. The manner in which the state government is functioning shows that either it has no control over the administration, the administration does not care for it or there is some tacit understanding between the government and the communal forces,” said Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry while speaking to media after presiding over a party meeting.
Uttar Pradesh Cong ress president Nirmal Khatri had convened the meeting to step up preparations for the party’s proposed August 17, Vidhan Sabha ‘gherao’ programme against the Samajwadi Party government.
Replying to a question about the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s accusations about the misuse of CBI against the opposition leaders, Mistry said the Congress had not misused the investigating agency and if the SP chief thought so he should come out with some evidence. “We did not see the Congress misusing the CBI,” said Mistry.
“If the SP chief believed so he should have made a statement in this regard when the UPA was in power,” said Khatri.
About suspension of 25 Congress MPs, Mistry said Cong ress president Sonia Gandhi had rightly dubbed the move as murder of democracy.
