Mustafa nets hat trick in Chaturvedi soccer

LUCKNOW: Syed Mustafa struck five goals, including a hat trick as St Francis crushed Maharaja Agrasen Inter College 5-1 to advance to the next round of the 14th Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Football Tour nament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

Mustafa completed his hat trick in the first half itself, striking back-to-back goals on regular intervals. He continued to dominate even after a change in the ends and he managed two more goals in the second half. Sidharth Singh scored a consolation goal for the Maharaja Agrasen Inter College in the dying minutes of play.

Earlier, LPS South City were declared winners in the second match against Police Modern School, which allegedly fielded outsiders, whereas Montfort Inter College outplayed St Fidelis 3-0. Himanshu scored in the first half, whereas Anshul Dwivedi struck two more goals in the second half.

CONVINCING WINS It was a day of convincing wins in the District Football League-2015, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday. Chowk Spor t i ng defeated Aliganj Football Club 3-0 in the first match of the day. Ashu, Vibhor and Imran shared three goals between them. In the second match of the day, 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre crushed Vijay Football Club 4-0. Suman scored in the eighth and 27th minutes, respectively to put the side into quick lead. In the second half, Sagar and Bikram netted a goal each.

WEEKLY BRIDGE The duo of AK Sinha and SQ Wazahat managed 53.75 percent points to win the match point pairs contest at t he Weekly Bridge Tournament, at the Oudh Gymkhana here. They won with a margin of nearly half a board and with a good score. They had seven tops, five above average scores and 1 zeros in their score. They were followed by Pravin Agarwal-SA Abbasi (61.67), AC Srivastava-MA Khan (61.25) and RP Srivastava-BD Sarkar (55).

AWADH SCHOOL WIN Awadh School defeated La Martiniere College by 36 runs in a league match of the InterSchool Cricket Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

BRIEF SCORES Awadh School 127 in 22.5 overs (Utsav Dutta 31, Sumit Sharma 31, Lisan 4 for 3, Faraz 2 for 13, Monish 2 for 18) beat LMC 91 in 22.5 overs (Dheeraj Yadav 3 for 25, Shashank 2 for 8, Sumit Sharma 2 for 22).
