Many politicians, officials likely to face CBI heat
The officers who served in NOIDA Authority, Greater NOIDA Authority and Yamuna Expressway Authority as well as the politicians who gave protection to tainted engineer-in-chief of NOIDA Authority Yadav Singh, will be under the scanner of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing into the disproportionate assets case against Singh.
Singh started his career as junior engineer in NOIDA Authority in 1980 and soon rose to the post of engineer-in–chief.
He had the charge of three authorities, NOIDA Authority, Greater NOIDA Authority and Yamuna Expressway.
“His rapid rise was possible due to the blessings of politicians and officers who got benefitted from corruption ideas and deeds Singh mastered in the course of his career,” said a CBI officer.
He enjoyed immense clout in political and bureaucratic circles, first in the Mayawati government (May 2002-August 2003) and then in the Mulayam government (2003 to 2007), then again in the Mayawati government (from 2007 to 2012) and the present dispensation.
Singh has been accused of taking commissions, paying cuts, resorting to favouritism, improper tendering and contract allotments of Noida projects and even money laundering.
The SP and BSP leaders who benefitted from him would be under the scanner of the premier investigation agency.
To invest ill-gotten money, Singh and his family members have floated shell companies, the documents seized by CBI indicates.
Several politicians and bureaucrats have also invested their illegal money in these companies, documents suggest.
BJP MP Kirit Somaiya claimed Sunny Yadav, son of Yadav Singh, is connected with SMP Technology Ltd, daughter Karuna Yadav has links with KS Ultratech Pvt Ltd, another daughter Garima Yadav is connected with Chahat Technology Pvt Ltd as well as New Era Software Pvt Ltd.
His wife Kusum Lata is connected with Quick Infotech Solutions Pvt Ltd and Hitchki Creations Pvt Ltd. All these companies had come under scanner of CBI.
The crime branch-crime investigation department (CB-CID) team that gave clean chit to Singh will also be on the CBI radar once it takes up investigation.
DGP Jagmohan Yadav was the additional director general (ADG) CB-CID when the investigation agency probed the case and gave a clean chit to Yadav Singh in November 2013. Sources said the CBI could also grill the DGP.
Talking to HT, a senior police officer said, “The CB- CID probe against Singh smacks of under hand dealing. How come the premier state investigation agency failed to unearth the corruption promoted by Singh whereas Income Tax raid on his office and residence led to recovery of huge cash and jewellery,” he said.
“It clearly shows that CB-CID did not conduct the investigation properly or were under pressure to hush up the case,” he added.
