STF: SIX DOCS, 14 STAFFERS BEHIND HEALTH DIRECTORATE FIRE
LUCKNOW: The Special Task Force (STF), probing into the June 14 fire at the health directorate, has recommended FIR against doctors and employees involved in the incident.
In a preliminary inquiry report submitted to principal secretary, health and family welfare, Arvind Kumar, the STF has said that evidence collected from the spot indicated that the fire was caused deliberately.
“The preliminary report says the fire was caused deliberately by six doctors and 14 employees. I have directed the health officials to register FIR against the accused,” said Ahmed Hasan, health and family welfare minister.
The files that got gutted were related to appointments of doctors, purchase of medicine/instruments and fund allocation for various health programmes, said a health department officer.
Ruling out short circuit, the STF experts found that main power supply was switched off and there was no supply from generator set as well.
When the doctors and employees posted in the directorate were grilled, they told the cops that it was the handiwork of six doctors and 14 employees. “Beer bottles and cigarette butts were also found lying in the room,” said the report. The remains found in the room were sent to Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for ion profiling, flame test and chemical analysis. The report, however, is still awaited.
