ON AUG 21 GOEL HAD ISSUED SUMMONS TO THE SP PRESIDENT FOR THE REMARKS HE ALLEGEDLY MADE ON GANG RAPE

KANPUR: A local court in Mahoba issued fresh summons to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav after the party’s youth wing district president threatened the landlord of the judge, who on August 21 had issued summons to Mulayam for his alleged remarks on gang rape, and pressed him to get the house vacated.

The landlord Sunil Agarwal submitted the recorded conversation with a complaint to civil judge (junior division) Ankit Goel. The judge issued fresh summons to Mulayam and district president of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha Bhagirath Yadav. They have been asked to appear before the court on September 7.

On August 21, Goel had issued summons to the SP president for the remarks he allegedly made on gang rape at a function in Lucknow. However, the district judge Mahoba had stayed that summons after a lawyer representing Yadav argued the Goel as civil judge (junior division) was not competent to take suo moto cognizance and issue summons. According to him it was breach of jurisdiction. The stay is effective till September 26. In the fresh case, Agarwal alleged the Bhagirath called him up and threatened him and the judge. He wanted the house vacated, Agarwal alleged.

He filed a complaint and submitted a copy of recorded conversation in the court, which issued the fresh summons.

“No SP leader or worker indulged in such act. It is the media defaming and twisting the facts,” said SP’s district president Babu Mansoori . Bhagirath’s cellphone was switched off when attempts were made to contact him. Meanwhile, the lawyers in Kulpahad, Mahoba have gone on strike. They are demanding arrest of Bhagirath.
