LGC win team title of caddies

LUCKNOW: Hosts Lucknow Golf Club won the team championsh­ip of the Lucknow District Open Golf Tournament for Caddies, In the qualifying round of the individual category, two caddies Vishal Rawat and Virendra Kashyap played par-round.

In all 78 caddies-cum-golfers took part and out of which 39 could make the cut. Now, they would play the final on next Monday. On Tuesday, an exclusive event for junior caddies would be organised.

CHATURVEDI CRICKET

DPS Jankipuram defeated Spring Dale College by 23 runs in a league match of the 17th Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament here on Monday. In other match of the day, Vidyatree Modern College beat Bhartiya Vidya Mandir by 64 runs.

TRAINING CAMP

A three-day camp of the district women’s cricket team begins on October 21 at the Multi Activity Centre here. Chairman of the women’s wing of the Cricket Associatio­n Lucknow, Jasbeer Singh informed that team would later be participat­ing in the All India Kamla Bahuguna Women’s Cricket Tournament, to be played at Allahabad from October 24.

THRILLING WIN

Royal Mount Academy defeated Ghyasiban Public School by two wickets in a thrilling match of the 2nd Super House Championsh­ip Trophy Cricket Tournament here on Monday. Needing 117 to win in the stipulated 20 overs, Royal Mount Academy romped home in 18.2 overs. Siddhant struck highest 37.

BIG VICTORY

Unity Cricket Academy (UCA) defeated The Cricket Club by 117 runs to collect full points in the LCA Trophy Under-16 Cricket League, at the NER Stadium here on Monday. UCA piled up 216 for nine in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, TCC collapsed for just 80 in 28.2 overs. Aquib and Sachin shared six wickets between them, while Aman got two for nine.

CRICKET TOURNEY

ASCA ‘Red’ defeated ASCA ‘White’ by 13-run to win the Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy’s 18th Eight-A-Side-Cricket Tournament, at the Awadh School Ground here on Monday. In reply to ASCA Red’s 86, ASCA white could make 73 in allotted eight overs. Shubham Vishwakarm­a top scored with 43. Shahnawaj Khan, Manmath Tewari and Shubham Vishwakarm­a were given special awards.

SCHOOL FOOTBALL

The District Football Associatio­n is going to conduct the Chitransh Memorial State Schools Football Tournament from October 25 to November 1, at the Chowk Stadium here. The tournament offers Rs 25,000 to the winners, whereas runners-up would be getting Rs 15,000. Entry closes with organizing secretary AK Singh or DFA secretary Kanhiya Lal on October 20.

PARTH EXCELS

Parth Ratra won the under10 title of the SAFE Tennis Academy’s district tournament, defeating Aradhya 4-0 here on Monday. Vikash Chaurasia beat Madhav Prakash 4-2 to claim the under-12 title, whereas Umakant outplayed Vatsal Srivastava 4-2 to grab the u-14 trophy.

TRIALS

Selection of state girls school karate teams in under-14, 17 and 19 will be held on October 15 at the Khalsa Inter College. The selected team will participat­e in the National School Games Championsh­ip to be played at Roopnagar in Punjab.

KV HANDBALL

Lucknow Kendriya Vidyalaya defeated Varanasi Kendriya Vidyalaya 11-9 in a thrilling final to win the handball team title of the National Sports Meet of the Kendriya Vidyalaya. Patna defeated Gurgaon by 22-16.
