LUCKNOW: The B-Aware Foundation, an NGO working for the cause of girls and other social issues, has decided to observe ‘Black Day’ on December 24 in protest against release of the youngest convict of December 16, 2012 gang rape case.

“We have decided to observe ‘black day’ on December 24 as a mark of protest against the release of youngest convict of the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder case,” said Aparna Yadav, patron of the B-Aware Foundation at a press conference here on Monday.

“The foundation will release black balloons and burn effigy of the convict at 1090 crossing in Gomti Nagar,”Aparna said.

She also appealed to people to assemble in large numbers at the 1090 crossing at 1 pm to register their protest against the release of the convict.

Similar protests would be staged all over the state, she said. To press the demand of passage of Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Bill, 2015, the B-Aware Foundation would carry out a signature campaign and a separate campaign on WhatsApp messenger and SMS on 07275996221 mobile number. “A letter will also be sent to Rajya Sabha requesting it to take up the Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Bill, 2015,”Aparna said.

Following massive protests after the release of the youngest convict in the Delhi gang-rape case, political parties on Monday decided to take up the Juvenile Justice Bill in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
