After a cloudy weekend, get ready for a sunny week

LUCKNOW: The weather is playing hide and seek with Lucknowite­s once again. After experienci­ng hot weather for a couple of days, the residents not only woke up to a pleasant Saturday but also welcomed a drizzle in the evening. As per the forecast, a further dip in night temperatur­es is expected on Sunday.

JP Gupta, state met director said, “Sunday would be sunny but the temperatur­es would be near normal. The entire week is likely to have clear skies and sunshine with day temperatur­es hovering around 30 degrees Celsius.”

Lucknow witnessed a maximum temperatur­e of 28.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday which was 2 degrees above normal. The minimum temperatur­e was recorded at 20.6 degrees, 10 degrees above normal. The day temperatur­e in the past few days had crossed the 30 degrees Celsius mark, making Lucknowite­s feel the summer warmth.

“The overcast sky on Saturday was a result of western disturbanc­es and upper air cyclonic circulatio­n over Rajasthan. However, the sky would be clear in the coming week,” said Gupta.

As per the forecast issued by the met department, the weather is likely to be dry all over the state. The day and night temperatur­es in Lucknow are likely to hover around 29 degrees Celsius and 16 degree Celsius respective­ly.

While Lucknow got some respite from the high day tempera- tures on Saturday, at some stations the temperatur­es remained above 30 degrees Celsius .

Churk remained the hottest at 33.8 degrees Celsius, that was 7 degrees above normal.

Varanasi recorded a day temperatur­e of 33.1 degrees Celsius that was 5 degrees above normal. Allahabad recorded a maximum of 32.3 degrees Celsius, that was 4 degrees Celsius above normal.

Stations like Bareilly witnessed day temperatur­e of 23.5 degrees Ceksius that was 3 degrees below normal.

The difference between day and night temperatur­es remained fairly low in Bareilly.

The minimum temperatur­e at the station was recorded at 20.9 degrees Celsius that was 10 degrees above normal.
