3 killed after bike rams into tree

THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON MAHONA ROAD, BARELY 500 METRES FROM ITAUNJA TOWN, WHEN THE TRIO WERE RETURNING FROM A MARRIAGE CEREMONY AROUND 12 MIDNIGHT

In a tragic incident, three people were killed after a speeding motorcycle rammed into a tree on the city outskirts in Itaunja here late on Wednesday night. Police said the incident took place when the motorcycli­st apparently tried to save collision with a speeding car coming from the opposite side.

The deceased were identified as Babu Kannuajia, 24, his father Ranjit Kannaujia, 50, alias Peru and their relative Rajendra Kumar, 30, the residents of Itaunja’s Bodhana village. The incident took place on Mahona road barely 500 metres from Itaunja town when the trio riding on a motorcycle were returning from a marriage ceremony at around 12midnight.

Police said the trio suffered head injuries after the motorcycle rammed into the tree and they kept lying unattended for over an hour. The incident was reported to police when some locals spotted them lying in pool of blood. They were then rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead.

In another incident, a 27-yearold youth Shyam Rawat was killed after being hit by a moving train while crossing the unmanned railway crossing at Khurdahi Bazar in Gosaiganj during wee hours on Thursday. The incident took place when Rawat was returning home from his relative’s place on a motorcycle.

Police said the deceased was apparently unable to spot the train and was hit in an attempt to cross the railway crossing. Rawat was found lying dead later in the morning. The body has been sent for postmortem examinatio­n to further probe the matter.
