Erratic lifestyle, stressful workflow and environmental degradation are some of the leading conditions causing brain and spine-related diseases.

“The common problems majority of people face are back pain, pain radiating down the legs while walking, numbness or experiencing pins and needles in legs or arms, and worsening pain while bending over or sitting down for a long time. The list of problems goes on,” Dr Manish Vaish, senior consultant neurosurgeon, said in a press statement issued on Thursday. Owing to sedentary and stressful lifestyle nowadays, spine health was being affected badly, he said. “Nevertheless, the significance of spine health is immense for a healthy living. The functions of spine are movement, support, protection, co-ordination and control of the entire system. So, spinal disorder needs proper treatment. Of an array of surgeries available for pain, brain and spine-related diseases, micro endoscopy spine (MES) surgeries are setting new remedial paradigms to reduce the sufferings. The novel method devises an improved surgical precision that cuts down on blood loss besides lessening risks and entailing faster recovery,” Dr Vaish said.

MES is also called minimally invasive surgery. Surgeons use a variety of techniques to ensure less injuries to patients than in open surgeries. Usually, it allows the patient to recover faster and heal with less pain and wounds. Minimally invasive surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis or requires only a short hospital stay.
